Overview

Your role

The UK Operations Manager supports the UK Head of Operations in the oversight of service delivery in Operations in support of UK Banking Legal Entities and the Senior Managers Framework via various direct and matrix reporting relationships. As the UK Operations Manager you will:
  • Ensure the services delivered by, and activities undertaken in, UK Operations, are subject to appropriate management control and oversight and are performed in compliance with the regulatory requirements, attaching to our legal entities and with BNYM's policies and procedures
  • Represent UK Operations at Global, Regional, Legal Entity and Operational Committees, Councils and meetings as required
  • Provision of direction and support of the Operation teams when they are faced with key operational issues and supporting escalation when necessary
  • Build effective relationships across the broader BNY Mellon Group to ensure that UK Operations is adequately represented in the Company and that the company leverage the potential of UK Operations and the UK Banking Legal Entities
  • Actively support the Company's Global Operations and Technology organization to formulate and implement plans to achieve more efficient and cost-effective operating models for the Companies operations in the UK
  • Work closely with the UK Head of Operations for BNY Mellon in identifying opportunities for process improvements and best practice adoption across the UK, and the wider organisation
  • Support client specific developments which require adjustments to key operational processes or the bringing together of various pieces of the operations framework for business in the UK.
  • Interfacing with the UK regulators on Operational matters that arise in relation to the UK Banking Legal Entities in coordination with the UK Head of Operations, Risk and Compliance.
  • In conjunction with EMEA head of Control Management manage and maintain the Internal Control Framework for Operations across the UK Legal Entities. The Internal Control Framework will provide the UK Head of Operations with reasonable assurance to the effective control for UK Legal Entity Operations and Operational reporting and compliance with requirements under the Senior Management Regime
  • Oversee the implementation of key Operations projects and initiatives that impact EMEA and the UK. Oversee the risk management aspect of Operations of the UK Banking Legal Entities (KRI's, RSCAs, Audit issues, etc) ensuring that all relevant operational issues and risks are both

Successful Candidate will demonstrate/possess:
  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required
  • 10-15 years of total work experience with at least 3-5 years in management preferred
  • Strong experience in securities or financial services, Custodian preferred
  • Good knowledge of the CASS rules in the UK
  • Product experience - general knowledge across all operations product processes and control environment. Detailed knowledge of securities product including operation of markets and settlement across a custody bank
  • A strong ability to influence across a large organization and interact with senior management within Business, Operations, Finance, Legal, and Compliance partners
  • Experience of identifying and managing risk, control and regulatory issues including experience of interaction with internal and external regulators and audit
  • Risk analysis skills (data and process) - ability to analyze control process to identify key issues and determine impact
  • Excellent organizational & multi-tasking skills to manage varied and complex subject matter across numerous distributed teams
  • Ability to deal and communicate at all levels within the organization
  • Change leadership - challenges the status quo; continually seeks to do things better. Champions new ideas and initiatives. Pursues aggressive goals and continuously raises performance expectations to achieve excellence
  • Energy & drive - takes personal ownership and accountability for quality of delivery across the enterprise front to back. Sets high performance expectations and creates a sense of urgency and accountability in others.
